Changes to the The McKenzie Towne Roundabout coming

With the proposed roundabout design, two lanes will be provided eastbound and westbound through the roundabout to accommodate the higher traffic volumes on McKenzie Towne Boulevard. For the lower-volume northbound and southbound movements, including turns off McKenzie Towne Boulevard, a single lane will be provided.
This new configuration will maintain a good level of service for all traffic movements while improving safety by simplifying operations and reducing conflict points.
Below is a summary of the safety benefits of the proposed turbo roundabout design:
1. Reduces confusion about which lane to use before entering the roundabout.
2. Reduces hesitation near exits caused by unclear yielding expectations.
3. Reduces the need to change lanes or cross paths with vehicles in another lane while exiting.
4. Reduces unpredictable movements that can affect people walking, driving, cycling, or taking transit through the area.
The City would like to implement the new roundabout design this fall using temporary traffic control devices to evaluate its effectiveness and gather community feedback on its operation. If the roundabout performs as expected from a safety and operational perspective, and the modifications are well received by the community, The City would like to construct permanent changes to the roundabout in the summer of 2027.

Free Electronics Recycling – 7 days per week
A new electronics recycling drop off is now available 7 days a week between 10 AM to 4:30 PM. It is located in the Super Store parking lot just west of the Real Canadian Liquor Store and north of the Toronto Dominion bank.

Outdoor Odour issue
Since summer 2022, the City of Calgary and Jacobs Engineering have been conducting an investigation into odours in the S.E. area. You can learn more about the investigation here.
The City needs your help to address the odour issue. When an “outdoor odour event” takes place, please use 311 to report. Your location will be used in combination with wind speed and direction helping the City pinpoint the source(s) and take effective action.
